HOW TO MAKE MONEY ONLINE
October 31, 2007 on 10:51 am | In Uncategorized | No Comments
It sounds simple enough. Just turn on the old computer, build a website and let the money come in. Sounds ridiculous doesn’t it? To some people, that’s the idea behind online marketing from home. They believe that if you have a computer that it is an instant cash cow.
Well, supplementing or even substituting your income from home is not difficult. And there are many ways to do it. However, as it is with anything, you must put in the time, and hard work will not be a stranger.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO
First, think about what you like to do. When you do something you like, you won’t have any problem committing 6-7 hours a day to it. If you are a photographer, create a photography blog and offer tips on better photo taking and photoshop techniques.
TYPES OF ONLINE OPPORTUNITIES
Paid Surveys are increasingly popular. I tried those once when I was off work, and they are very time consuming. You really have to enjoy completing short questionaires and surveys! Some of them pay extremely well, and could turn into a lucrative venture. Greenfield Online, A.W. Surveys are all very good and will pay you for your time. These are just two I have used. And they are legitimate.
AFFILIATE PROGRAMS
The affiliate programs that will bring you the most money and will pay you are the ones that require you to have a reputable site. No scam type material can be posted on your blog. For instance, I have used Performics, BidVertiser, AdBrite and of course Google AdSense. These are reputable programs and will pay you by check or PayPal. Make sure you check out any affiliate program before you begin by visiting Mazu. They are an authority site that reviews and reports scam activity. However, with these sites I just mentioned, they do not require any out of pocket cost to you.
MLM PROGRAMS (MULTI-LEVEL MARKETING)
Be careful here! There are some unscrupulous webmasters out there that will take your money and leave you high and dry. Take the time to particularly investigate these programs at Mazu. My motto is, before I fork over even $1 I investigate who is asking for it. Just recently, I fell for a scam offer that I just knew was legitimate, they only asked for 99 cents, so I figured ok, can’t be too bad. But, it’s been a couple of months now and I haven’t received my product. Can you imagine how many other people are forking over 99 cents? This webmaster is getting over like a fat cat. I have reported him to Mazu.
ARTICLE WRITING
It’s true. If you enjoy writing, then you can make money writing articles. I joined a community called Helium. They pay you to rate, review and write articles. It’s a very professional community and they look forward to reading and rating your material. Here you will receive honest feedback for all the work you submit. Try it out, click on the banner below.
MAKING MONEY BLOGGING
A recent discovery of mine has been PayPerPost. I love it. Most professional, reputable bloggers are members of this community and they frequently make a substantial income blogging for others. Sounds unreal huh? Well, it’s true. The amount of money you can make here is up to you. Again, it’s all dependent upon the amount of time you spend.
These are just a few suggestions and ideas for making money online. They are credible opportunities that have been tried. Of course, it’s not for everyone, but it’s a start.

How To Make Social Network Marketing Work For You!
October 30, 2007 on 3:37 pm | In social network marketing, social networking, stumble upon, tagged | No Comments
Yesterday while in one of my networking forums, a member asked how to make Digg and StumbleUpon work for her. She said she had joined both of these social networking sites a few months ago and hadn’t received a lot of ‘Diggs’ or ‘Stumbles.’ She was wondering if social network marketing and its power was just some other internet marketing joke. This group member had started a flurry of questions concerning Digg and others like it. As I continued to read, it appeared that at least 15-16 members had not seen in success in these social network marketing groups. Just reading their posts, you could almost feel mental exhaustion creeping in. So, I decided to answer them.
You see, social network marketing is a part of the Web 2.0 phenomenon that is sweeping the way information is found on the internet as well as the way people connect with one another. Quite frankly, used properly, it is what old internet marketers used to call ‘list building.’
List building was what was once used and still is, to achieve online riches. The theory goes that if you have a large enough list to market to, then they will eventually grow to trust you and your products and become your customers. These were the best type of customers too, because it was like they knew you. Many of us used newsletters and ezines as a method to establish credibility and reputation. Sending out weekly or daily email blasts to our subscribers. The ezines contained advertising paid and free from other members as well as advertising for our own products and services.
With Web 2.0 I sometimes don’t have time for my newsletter. Many of my subscribers are a part of my social network.
Digg, DropJack, StumbleUpon, De.lici.ous, Simpy, Squidoo, Tailrank are all places that I utilize to distribute and mass market my articles and blog. When others read my material, especially my friends, these blog postings grow in popularity leading back to my blog creating massive waves of traffic. This traffic is viral, the best kind, people pass my link around. And my friends help. In addition, my blog has advertising on it, so the theory is, the more people who visit this blog, some will even click on the ads and generate an income to me.
Now, the making friends part is where the fun comes in. Each one of these social network marketing communities allows you to invite your friends either from your subscriber lists, email contact lists, or you can just read what others are submitting and request a friendship.
With Digg, people sometimes become your ‘fan’ before they become your ‘friend.’ I presume this is a way of checking you out to make sure you are not a spammer.
However, when you consistently post quality relevant content on these social network marketing sites, you will naturally gain friends. I do 100% of my network marketing in sites such as these. In Hi5(a friendship site like MySpace) I have over 1500 friends; Facebook is new so I only have 11 friends; MySpace, 302 friends; SmoothJazzSpace, 256; Digg, friends; DropJack, 21; Tagged, 81; and on and on. Not all of the same people are on these social networking sites. That makes this type of networking even more powerful.
People will get to read what I say and pass it on to their friends, to their social networking communities. Now, mind you everyday someone will want to be your friend, accept their friendship. Many times I don’t even look to see if you are incarcerated or not, I just accept the friendship because I am looking to make a strong network. And the more people I have listening to what I have to say, then the greater likelihood I will gain more traffic, and increase my income.
Making friends is what social network marketing is all about. In the past people used to pay others to build their lists, find them leads. Now, it’s free all you have to do is network.
When you combine social network marketing with search engine optimization, you will have the most powerful networking tool in existence.
A word of advice, if you just duplicate the efforts of the successful, you too will also become successful. Duplication not reinvention.
SEO YOUR BLOG TO DEATH!
October 29, 2007 on 2:16 pm | In Uncategorized | No Comments
SEO seems to be the hot topic on all the social bookmarking sites this morning. Either people don’t know anything about SEO or they want to know more about SEO.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) lately has been going hand in hand with social networking, social bookmarking and Web 2.0. Actually, I’m beginning to think that the popularity of a blog is established with Digg, DropJack, Scoop and all the other social bookmarking sites. If you are made popular there, then do the search engines pick you up,thus increasing your page rank and your visitors?
Here’s an example. I posted a story in Scoop 7 days ago that has been gaining in popularity. Lots of people are reading it, and I am benefiting from strong backlinks, higher page ranks, etc. All of this activity without paying a dime for pay per clicks or any of the other things some bloggers and webmasters do. My focus is on providing good, quality content for my readers. It’s old fashioned, but hey I’m an old fashioned girl.
In addition, I’ve been using article marketing to publish my articles. See, I turn my blog posts into articles and receive even more traffic. Yes, this takes time. But, I happen to love what I do. You have to have a passion for something in order to make it work. Here is the Article Base Camp Link I Use: Submit Articles to the Articles Basecamp Directory - Article submission and content you can use for free at articlesbasecamp.com
So far my most popular article on Article Base Camp is “Search Engine Love And How To Get It.” That leads me back to my initial thought for today–search engine optimization. Just so you know, I’ve only been submitting articles to Article Base Camp for three (3) weeks!
You can find thousands of articles online about SEO. However, none of it will make sense if you don’t do the basics first. Make sure you are networking and promoting your blog in as many as the social bookmarking sites as possible. Answer questions and help others in forums and discussion groups. Keep your blog content relevant, and include a signature line in all your email communications. Write articles! This is the most viral, search engine inclusive thing you can do to help your blog. It’s time tested and it works. Article writing helps establish your credibility. And being online you need to be credible.
I’m not so sure that page rank and keyword density are as important as they used to be. Just last week there was an uproar among bloggers and webmasters alike when Google sent out notices to certain bloggers and webmasters who had been purchasing links. Maybe these bloggers and webmasters were abusing the system, I’m not sure. My advice, only purchase links as a last resort. Building a reputable online presence takes time, it won’t happen overnight.
That’s another thing, proper SEO can not be achieved in 24 hours. Don’t let anyone convince you it can. 90% of it is persistence, the rest is just being prepared. My father once told me that if you prepare yourself for greatness, then you will be ready when it comes.

LINK BUILDING 4 DUMMIES
October 26, 2007 on 10:54 am | In spyon it, track engine | No Comments
To turn your blog into ‘link bait,’ you must first provide good quality content that will make people naturally link to your blog.
One of the most important tactics I’ve learned and have begun using is incorporating my friends’ links in the body of my blog posts. This way, when this article is shared, so are the links. It’s a more effective way to utilize these reciprocal links than by placing all of those backlinks in one specific place on your blog. Hint: When Google spiders spot words like ’sponsor’ and ‘advertiser,’ the words lose value on your blog. So be careful.
Combine your backlinks with new and old sites. Show new and upcoming sites some love by including them in your link exchange program. Take into consideration the relation of your back links to your blog - relevant links carry much more weight than non-relevant ones. Remember, the search engines will judge your blog by the links you link back to, so make sure your links are reputable ones.
Also, research who you link with. This should be a rule of thumb when link building. Find out who else links to the sites you are attempting to link to. Visit Google and download their toolbar. Then check the status of the link by typing in the URL to see if the site has been indexed yet.
Another tactic is to go to any of the major search engines and look for your target keywords. Look for the pages that appear in the top results, then contact those site owners and see if they are willing to exchange links with you. Be professional in your communication with them, having a link of your own in mind that you want to exchange.
Also, check Netscape Open Directory. According to Eric Ward, President of Net Post and URLwire, you can have multiple “links to your site’s content as long as that content is a match for the category you are submitting to.”
Remember, think of your link as a footprint, and leave your link anywhere you can! Look for additional link building opportunities in Discussion Groups, Guest Books and Forums.

The Digg Effect - Part Deux
October 25, 2007 on 11:23 pm | In social bookmarketing, social networking | No Comments
In last week’s Blog, I wrote about the Digg Effect and how social bookmarking is changing the way information is searched for on the internet.
Social Bookmarking works like this: people submit blog articles or news items of interest to be read by their peers. Now here’s where the magic comes in: if your peers like the information you submitted, they can Digg it, or make it popular. The more popular your link becomes, the more visits you get to your blog, thus increasing your blog traffic.
Now, social bookmarking has hit mainstream America. USA Today featured a story on Digg and its impact on finding information on the internet. The court of popular opinion definitely determines what the ‘community’ should be reading.
“People realize they now have a voice in deciding what is news, says Digg Founder 30 year old Kevin Rose. It’s cool to be Dugg.
And on top of that, Microsoft has recognized the value of social networking. They plan to buy a 1.6% stake in Facebook’s 24 million members for $240 million. Previously, Google had placed an unsuccessful bid for the networking giant.
According to reports, Facebook’s total value is $15 billion and Microsoft has agreed to also sell ads for Facebook overseas. I guess you could say Microsoft recognizes the value and power of social networking.
HALLOWEEN AND THE BLOG OF HORROR
October 25, 2007 on 11:08 am | In Uncategorized | 3 Comments
The closer Halloween gets, the more I dread it. No, I’m not against the joy that little children experience while trick-or-treating or dressing up in Halloween drag. Rather, Halloween is a true horror story for me. Let me tell you about it.
It was just a year ago when the terror began. Blogging is my life and my life is blogging. In an attempt to get lots of readers to Digg my posts, I lost my creative mind and landed in the search engine zone.
Let me tell you, as admirable as it sounds, no Blogger wants to be in the search engine zone. The zone is between here and there – with no boundaries. Keywords fly towards you at warp speed, none relevant to your blog.
Ghosts from discarded blog posts long past, loitered about like a living cemetery. Haunting me with wicked abandon, all hope was lost as I spun carelessly out of control. Deeper and deeper I traveled into the no link building house of horrors.
No reputable Blogger wanted to trade links with me. They all avoided me like was a leper and my blog carried the Trojan Horse Virus. The only links that wanted to back link to me were spam pages.
For days I wandered aimlessly through a Google-type sandbox. Trying to avoid page rank sudden death.
Just when it looked the bleakest, a dim light at the end of the hall shone through. I went towards it and lo and behold it was Web CEO with over 200 Free Search Engine Directories to rescue me.
I submitted my blog to Alta Vista, Exact Seek, Yahoo!, Google, MSN and more. The pressure to flood my posts with irrelevant keyword phrases was lifting. The more I submitted, the more my mind returned to the land of true blogging.
So you see, this is why I don’t like Halloween, it really is a spooky time for blogging.
Happy Halloween and don’t get trapped in the search engine zone, it could happen to you.

SEARCH ENGINE LOVE AND HOW TO GET IT
October 24, 2007 on 11:04 am | In Uncategorized | 4 CommentsThere are all kinds of blogs. Blogs about deep sea diving with pretty pictures; blogs about people and the love of their dogs. But one thing that I noticed about these different types of blogs –they had one thing in common: relevant content. They had stuff that people actually wanted to read.
Even on the blogs I didn’t like – those blogs also had relevant content, and the ads on the blog all related to the blog posting. Not all of the blogs were written to be submitted to article directories; however, if a friend had stopped by the blog about a dog, that friend would have surely been interested. After all, it was a cute story about a dog.
My point to all of this is, blogs have to have value – the search engines love this. People love this. In order to receive love from your readers and the search engines, you have to make the content on your blog valuable to them. Then the love will pour like rain.
I think that sometimes we try too hard to attract and keep visitors coming to our blogs. Often forgetting the human side of blogging, we stop writing for the reader and instead we begin to write for unseen spiders and virtual engines.
I guess some blog-masters think they can manipulate the search engine bots by sprinkling keywords and keyword phrases throughout their posts like salt and pepper on vegetables. You can’t trick your friends, they know whether you have a dog or not. And you can’t trick the search engine spiders either.
Offer your readers a healthy helping of interesting, relevant content – they’ll keep coming back for more. Think of your blog posts as food for the mind, not just a plate of empty dreams and promises.
19 FREE SEO LINK BUILDING TIPS FOR YOUR BLOG
October 23, 2007 on 2:41 pm | In Uncategorized | 3 Comments(PHOTOS BY LATEASE (C))
Writing a blog means writing about what you know and then making sure it is keyword analyzed. None of these tips cost me money, only time. If you’ve got the time, you can optimize your blog into a substantial income generating machine. The following tactics are what I do to give the search engines something to crawl about as well as to make money. Here are 19 Free SEO Tools that will increase your traffic, give you higher page rankings in the search engines and convert readers into customers.
1. ARTICLE MARKETING: There are hundreds of article directories that need articles on almost any subject you can think of. In addition, article writing is a great way to drive targeted, highly responsive traffic to your blog. I turn every blog post into a keyword dense, promotional information piece guaranteed to create traffic. Doing this will not only strengthen your search engine visibility, it has been known to increase sales. But, best of all, it’s absolutely free.
2. Back-Links: These are links that link back to your blog. I make it a practice of reading at least 1-2 blogs a day that my peers create. When I read something I’m interested in, I comment on it then follow up on the comment with an email to the Blogger requesting a link exchange. The theory is, if a blog has enough relevant links linking back to it, your search engine page rank will increase, therefore causing more traffic sent your way, as well as it boosts credibility to your blog.
3. SOCIAL BOOKMARKING: DIGG, SPIN, SCOOP, DE.LICIO.US, DROPJACK, REDDIT, SIMPY, etc. Social Bookmarking is becoming the new method for surfers to find information on the internet. Make your blog posts easy to find by submitting your posts to as many social bookmarking sites as you can and watch your traffic grow.
4. SIGNATURE ON EMAILS: I know this is old, but it works. Each time I send an email, I include my blog link under my name. Most email programs allow you to include signatures. Great promotional tool to use when you are forwarding those wacky emails to all your friends.
5. PUBLISH A NEWSLETTER: Your subscribers are loyal to you and will be more likely to buy the things you recommend to them because they trust you. Use your built in list to market your favorite products and services.
6. FORUMS: Answer questions in forums and discussion groups. Yahoo! Answers has a wonderful method to publicize your blog by allowing you to present your advice to people posing serious (and not so serious) questions on a variety of topics. They even allow you to include your link in your answer.
7. LINK REFERRAL: A traffic magnet that I use daily. I review other business websites, give honest opinions, and in turn I receive targeted traffic. Tip: Use your forum to post and respond to questions. This gives you an added bonus.
8. MY BLOGLOG: Kind of a social bookmarking-blog-traffic enhancer site. I just signed up yesterday and I received 20 visitors in the first 30 minutes.
9. SEARCH ENGINE SUBMISSION: Using Web CEO, I submit my site to all the major and minor search engines. There is a free version as well as a paid version. However, I find that the free version suits my professional needs.
10. BLOG OPTIMIZATION: Again, Web CEO comes in handy. I use it to correct errors that my eyes can not see. It is the program to use that will remedy the nuts and bolts of any website or blog.
11. KEYWORD DENSITY: Should be at least 3% in order for the search engines to crawl your site. Wordtracker is another freebie you can use.
12. BLOG DESIGN: Having a clean site design that is uncluttered and easy to navigate doesn’t hurt. Don’t ‘crowd’ your site with an over abundance of advertising, the search engine spiders might consider your blog to be spam if you do.
13. CONSISTENT BLOG POSTING: The recommendation is to post at least 3-4 times per week. Personally, I post Monday – Friday, treating my blog like a job. It helps cure any procrastination urgings I might feel.
14. RELEVANT CONTENT: It is imperative that you create relevant content. Don’t mix a potpourri of information on a blog that is supposed to be about digital cameras. Resist that temptation to step outside of the box, instead contain your flow of information as it relates to your niche subject.
15. RELEVANT ADS: This is also true for the type of advertising you allow on your blog. Health and vitamin supplements don’t belong on a blog about video email software.
16. DEEP LINKING: Create strong internal links to other blog articles in other postings. The search engine spiders love this. It allows them and your readers to crawl around your blog longer and deeper.
17. RSS FEEDS: Use FeedBurner to help distribute your blog to the rest of the blog reading world. RSS Feeds are like hungry virtual Venus fly traps waiting for your information to satisfy its information craving. Use it to your advantage and create strong backlinks as well as free distribution of all your content.
18. USE TAGS AND LABELS: Tagging creates a point of reference for your reader as well as the search engines. Remember when we were children and we played the game of tag? Getting tagged then was bad; however having tags for your blog posting helps to categorize your work; it helps readers find what they are looking for.
19. BLOG POPULAR: Give your audience what they are looking for. There are times when I go to what’s popular on Yahoo! or I will just use Web CEO to tell me what all the search engines are showing as popular for the day and write an article or blog about that (I keep the topic relevant to my content though.)
Ok, these are just 19 Free SEO Link Building Tips. Let me know if you have more, the list is always free to grow!
PayPerPost - Blogging For Dollars
October 22, 2007 on 1:02 pm | In Uncategorized | 2 Comments
On my journey to reach a broader audience while increasing readers who return to my blog, (and increase my blog ranking) I took the advice of a colleague and signed up for PayPerPost (PPP).
PayPerPost is a site that allows bloggers to actually get paid for posting on their own blog. My first thought was WOW! I post everyday anyway, blogging about substantial marketing and optimization tactics, why not generate some additional cash while I utilized PPP and getting some great backlinks in the process?
Most Pro Bloggers I associate with are affiliated with PPP, and many of them are making an additional $400-$500 a month. Small potatoes, but a nice chunk of change when you are also generating income from other sources like Google AdSense or Yahoo Search.
There are opportunities listed daily for a blogger to create a post based upon a given subject and earn money from that posting. All you have to do is qualify for the post and submit to it. Opportunities can pay anywhere from $8 to $135 per post. That’s substantial!
PayPerPost has a clean design, it’s not cluttered, and the team has a good response time in communicating with you. So far, so good. You don’t feel like you’re being sold a bill of goods here. These are important things to me, as a business person I don’t want to be told to wait 24 hours and someone will get back to me. What the hay, this is the internet, isn’t everything supposed to be in an instant?
PPP is also a place where you can network with other bloggers, share experiences and strategies. This seems to be the most beneficial to me outside of the obvious. Because as you may have already experienced, gaining new knowledge and blogging about it is 90% of the game. I am always on the lookout for new ways to sometimes say the same thing.
PPP gives me an another resource to rely upon for that increase in knowledge.
I’m looking forward to reporting to you about PPP. It seems like it’s going to be another journey into Blogger World.
Hmmmm…I think I’ll buy another lens for my Canon 30D digital camera with all the money I earn.
