Top 3 Google SEO Linking Strategies By Michael Small (c) 2008
July 31, 2008 on 7:56 pm | In Uncategorized | 2 CommentsTimes have changed. Just a couple short years ago, about 60% to 70% of your website ranking success depended on links. Now up to 85% of your page’s search engine rank on Google relates to how it is linked. More specifically, the quality and number of inbound links.
Google looks at everything from the “authority level” of the linked sites to their “PageRank” and even the IP class they use (Internet Protocol designation.) While we don’t have hours to get into every little detail, I have provided three simple surefire ways to get hundreds of top rate inbound links to any page on your site you wish. And this is the absolute fastest way to get on top of Google and stay there for the long haul. So, here we go…
Google SEO Linking Strategy One: Hire a Blog Reviewer.
Hiring a professional blogger can be a quick way to getting the links you want. Here’s how it works… You are basically hiring a blog reviewer to chat up your Website. You set the tone of what is said and even give them acceptable working parameters to meet, such as the blog’s traffic rating, type of blog and overall popularity.
You can hire independent people from services like eLance.com, Guru.com or RentaCoder.com or you can use a service that specializes in blog reviewers for hire, like PayPerPost.com. Personally, I like PayPerPost because it’s their specialty and this is their “posties” livlihood, so they tend to do a great job. It’s extremely reliable and great for social networking but considerably slower and ultimately more expensive than the following methods if your goal is simply link building.
Google SEO Linking Strategy Two: Write Articles on Your Website’s Topic.
Providing useful article content to readers of newsletters and article directories is one of the fastest and most reliable ways to get high quality inbound links. But even more important to some is that if you share your expertise the right way, you will likely become a recognized expert in your field in no time.
People have filled entire books on the subject of article marketing so let me just hit the highlights here. This will be enough to get you started and help your name become trusted by both publishers and readers alike. Just remember these six simple guidelines…
1.) The article has to accomplish two things. First, it has to be 100% legitimate and not contain any inflated facts or sales pitches. And second it absolutely must present real value to the reader and the publisher. Don’t ever write an article just for your sake. A solely self serving article will be immediately transparent to the publisher and to most readers. Most people understand you want something in return for sharing your knowledge and are very happy to oblige a mutually beneficial arrangement, such as a great article for a link back in your bio.
2.) Obey the rules of where you are submitting your work. This is extremely important! Don’t waste an editor or publisher’s time. Be sure to select the best, and most descriptive category possible for your submission.
3.) You can (and in my opinion, should) write in a casual, conversational style but be careful to spell check the article and review it for clarity before submitting it. Once you have written something, especially something with your name attached to it, it will be a representation of you.
4.) Make the article the appropriate length for what you have to say. Don’t drone on or cut it too short. Most article directories have guidelines about how long they like to see submissions. The same goes for newsletters. If you can’t find this info for the directory you like, sticking between 500 and 1,000 words is usually a safe bet and usually up to 1,250 is OK. If you have more to say, consider splitting it into multiple articles that deal with one specific topic each.
5.) Be brief in your bio section. If your article is well written and contains similar words to the keywords you want to be found for, 350 characters (or about 40 words) should be more than enough to tell a little about yourself, your services with one or two relevant keywords properly placed. Just be sure to use those keywords as anchor text when linking to the page that covers that keyword’s topic on your site. Many directories will let you have two links in the bio section and all allow at least one.
6.) And I saved the big one for last. Provide unique content to each article directory. Nobody wants to post duplicate content so carefully reword at least one third of the article so it is unique. This will help both the publisher and the quality of your resulting inbound links.
Big Tip: Writing dozens or even hundreds of article variations to eliminate duplicate content can take a great deal of time. Then manually submittíng them to hundreds of directories takes even longer. A nice solution is using an article distribution service that allows you to enter slight variations to specific sections of your article and then combines them in unique ways to provide unique content for the search engines and readers. I am NOT talking about a system that creates robotic substitutions based on replacing similar words from a thesaurus. That produces junk. I’m talking about a system that allows you to submit your text with alternate sentences or even whole paragraphs. This works amazingly well and can easily create over one thousand article variations based on about twenty extra minutes of your time when you submit your article. And of course, write as many variations of your bio as you can too.
One system that does a great job is available at SubmitYourArticle.com. They even review the article to ensure it is a good candidate for publication, which gives you advice from a professional editor for free. They do it to help protect their own reputation as well but the benefits to you are immeasurable.
Google SEO Linking Strategy Three: Use a Three Way Linking System.
Google has discounted the use of straight reciprocal links to the point that many people feel they are not worth the time and effort to obtain. I still use them sparingly, but I avoid reciprocal linking systems like the plague. Google hates them and they are so easy to detect that you might as well put a banner on your site saying “Hey Google, I use a link farm!”
Three way linking, however, is another story. Reciprocal linking is very easy to detect, but 3 way links are altogether different. It works like this… Site 1 links to Site 2 and then Site 2 links to Site 3. And finally Site 3 links to Site 1, or even to another site in the chain. In short; every link is a true and verifiable one way inbound link.
If you are part of a group of similar sites, this is well worth doing. But if you need to build links quickly or don’t have the time to set this up yourself, you can use a service like 3 Way Linker . It’s the ideal “set it and forget it” option and gives you full control over important aspects of linking.

Get Paid To Network
July 31, 2008 on 1:16 am | In Uncategorized | No CommentsThe Best Social Network In The World
Direct Matches is the largest and most popular social network in the world. It’s free to join and will bring you thousands of visitors. The methods I list below can be used to enhance your social and business networking on Direct Matches or any similar site.
Here are 12 ways you can get the most from your membership.
(1) If you are new to Direct Matches, make sure you create a profile, as you will get loads of visitors checking out your profile. Make sure you check out theirs, too.
(2) Whether or not you are new, every time you get a visitor, contact that person and ask him or her for feedback. Say, “What did you think of my profile” You can tell who your most recent visitors were by clicking on My Profile Traffic.
(3) Always be polite, courteous, and professional in your communications.
(4) When someone joins up through your link, always visit their profile and ask them how they are finding Direct Matches. Ask them if they need any help and try to give any help or practical advice they may need, or point them in the right direction. You can tell who joined through your link by visiting your BackOffice and clicking on the link for Binary Genealogy (Tree).
(5) When you visit someone’s profile, ask yourself how you can help this person. Maybe you send them a link to a blog, or forum posting, that will help their business. When you like what you see, say so.
(6) Send them an e-mail or, if you are their approved contact, post a comment on their comments page. When you praise someone, don’t just say ‘I like your profile’. Say what you like about it: Is it the colours? The wording? Their story? Or the service they are offering?
(7) Everyone is on Direct Matches in order to sell goods or services and make money. Be different. Your mission is to help other DM members.
(8) When you help someone, you are building a relationship. This person may refer others to you. Or you can ask the person for a reference which you can add to your website. The more people you help, the more referrals you will get.
(9) Posting classified ads will also bring visitors to your profile. Offer free goods or services which others can use to promote their businesses. For example, I offer a free Advanced Traffic System. You can use this to promote any program or opportunity.
(10) Post blogs. Don’t just post about your business. Post things that will be of interest, of use and of value to other DM members. The same goes for forum postings. Become a resource. Be the person people come to for information.
(11) Don’t just promote your own business. Promote others’ as well if you think they are valuable. For example, I give away How to Be a Black Entrepreneur in the Information Age and link to Conversations with Black Millionaires on my site.
(12) Enjoy Direct Matches and have fun!

Are You Just A Glorified Sales Rep?
July 23, 2008 on 1:37 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsI really want you to think outside the box with
me on this one.
We know that having sales skills is essential
to success in network marketing and that every
kind of business, really, is in the sales
business.
BUT… if the ONLY thing that you and I sell
people is our mlm opportunity and the company
products, then ALL we are is glorified sales
reps.
Nothing more.
And if all we are is sales reps… then no one
wants to talk with us.
Why?
Because no one gets excited about having to
brainstorm some lame-yet-realistic-sounding
excuses as to why they can’t buy what we’re
pushing… when really they just don’t
have the heart to tell us they couldn’t care
less about us or our “business plan.”
No one likes being backed into a corner where
they’re forced to be rude because you can’t
take a hint.
The problem with being “just” a sales rep is
that it’s outdated.
People don’t have time to listen to yet another
sales pitch.
That doesn’t add any VALUE to their busy lives.
You have to give them more than that if you want
their attention.
Your prospect can go out and join any one of a
hundred different work-from-home deals. Yours
does not stand out as anything special in their
minds.
“But I thought you said we have to learn how to
sell?”
Yes, but understand that the type of selling I’m
talking about and the type of selling most people
think of - the kind their companies teach - are
two completely different things.
Let me ask you a question.
What is it that makes sales hard? I mean really,
why is it so difficult?
It’s having to convince the other person that
they want what you have when really they don’t.
Am I right?
So… if that’s the case… what if the other
person already wants what you have? What if
they’re already looking for it?
Then the “type” of selling you have to do is
completely different. You’re not pitching them,
you’re educating them.
Here’s a little secret for you: The heavy hitters
don’t sell business opportunities.
Why?
Because they know that that’s not what people
are looking for.
In fact, a business opportunity is the last
thing they want to sell!
No joke. That’s not just a tricky play on words.
The way multi level marketing is REALLY done -
the way the gurus who make as much money in a
month as most people make in year do it - is by
putting their opportunity on the back burner and
forgetting about it.
And I’m not talking about retailing your
company’s products either.
There’s something else they sell in order to
build their business that you won’t hear about
from them, your company, or your upline.
During my struggling years of mlm, back when I
was attending every local, regional and national
conference I could, there was something that
always confused me. And I never got the answer
to it until I began studying sales and marketing
from sources other than my company.
There was this one guy, a top dog in our company,
who was a complete mystery to all of us “common
folk.”
We all knew who he was. We all knew that he
drove the most expensive cars of anyone, that he
had the biggest houses and the fanciest suits.
What we didn’t know was how he did it.
And boy did we want to.
Because at the huge national pep rallies, he was
never jumping around on stage sweating up a storm
as if he’d been snorting cocaine for the past
two hours (like all the others were).
And none of us really wanted to do that. None of
us wanted to act like a pack of 1st graders having
a birthday party at Chuck E Cheese. We just
gritted our teeth and told ourselves, “If this
is what it takes to get there, then this is what
I’m gonna do.”
But watching this guy, one would get the
impression that he couldn’t have been more
indifferent to all the hype going on around him,
despite the fact that he was making 5 times as
much money as the other leaders.
No matter who we asked though, even our own 6-
figure-earning-upline, we could never figure out
how he did it year after year after year - ‘cuz
he sure as heck wasn’t doing it the way the rest
of us were.
Usually the response was just, “I don’t know.”
But the best answer I ever got was, “He sells
some kind of system. Don’t worry about it though,
he doesn’t do it the company way.”
Well I did worry about it. Because I got sick
of being an evangelist doing it the company way.
So what DO the gurus sell?
How could they sell something other than a
business opportunity and still build a MASSIVE
organization (and make it look easy)?
Later, after I finally reached a level of
success I had never even thought possible before
(sponsoring 20 or more people every month
without breaking a sweat) it all made perfect
sense. I finally understood how that guy in my
previous company did it.
Here are some of the things I realized:
-First and foremost, the heavy hitters only
bothered with the people who were already
looking for what they had.
-Secondly, they understood what people were
really looking for in the first place. And so
they offered more than an opportunity, which was
just one puzzle piece in the overall picture.
They offered their customers something of much
greater value, something their companies could
never provide: Themselves and their expertise.
-They learned about sales and marketing
techniques from sources other than their company.
Because what they were doing was not taught by
any company in the industry.
-They invested in their customers first before
they asked for money or any kind of commitment.
This might sound corny, but it is the formula
that every great marketer has used to build
enormously profitable businesses.
-They gave people a true marketing system with
which to build their business. They gave them
the “how” rather than the “what.”
By doing all this they become more than just
another zealous sales rep peddling their wares.
They set themselves apart from everyone else out
there and by doing so, they attracted people to
them in droves.
The lesson?
Don’t be afraid to go against the grain and
differentiate yourself. Often times this is the
best marketing decision you can make.
How to Get a #5 Ranking in Google in 14 Days Starting From Scratch
July 18, 2008 on 7:35 pm | In Uncategorized | No Comments
Yes, it’s true. I landed a brand new blog in the #5 spot in Google for a two-keyword phrase in 14 days. How’d I do it? It’s simple: I chose the right domain name.
Did you know that Google gives special ranking bonuses to certain kinds of domain names? It does, and a significant bonus at that. Choosing a domain name that exactly matches the keywords you want to rank for will give your site a great head-start in the rankings. It’s not a requirement for ranking well, but it does help a good bit.
In the case of the blog that I ranked #5, I purchased the domain name DietersBlog.net. I then posted 10 unique articles to the blog that I hired a ghostwriter to create for me. I didn’t get any links, or do any promotion of the site at all (I’ll be honest–I got distracted with some other work I was doing).
Two weeks later I checked the stats for the blog. I was happy to see that I was already getting traffic from Google, specifically for the phrase “dieter’s blog.” I ran the query through Google and, sure enough, my blog was ranked #5. This was in spite of the fact that there are 2.4 million competing web pages in Google’s index for the phrase, and despite the fact that the other pages ranking in the top 10 had a few links into them (You do know that Google favors links above all else, right?).
I checked again today, and it’s now at #7, but I also found that the blog ranks #3 for “dieters blog” (without the apostrophe). That emphasizes a side point: Google differentiates between keywords with apostrophes (possessive terms) and those just ending in s (plural terms).
So the next time you sit down to create a new site, be careful to do your keyword research before you purchase your domain name. Also, keep in mind that the “Exact Match Bonus” applies more to .com, .net and .org domain names. Avoid .info and the other less known top-level domains.
An exact-match domain name is only the first step, though. Once you have that domain name in place, you have to back it up with links to your site. “Dieter’s Blog”, while certainly a phrase worth ranking for, is not highly competitive, so I was able to get the ranking just on the strength of the domain name and the site’s content. However, for keywords that bring a lot of traffic, you need a lot of links.
My 3WayLinks.net system automatically builds links to your site in the way that Google likes to see, helping you to rank in Google very quickly. The system has achieved thousands of top 10 rankings in Google for hundreds of webmasters, and can do the same for you. For rock-solid proof of its effectiveness, visit 3WayLinks.net now.
