Using Games And Contest Will Increase Blog Readers

As I travel around the blogosphere, I notice many top bloggers are utilizing contests as a way to increase readership and subscribers. It’s a great marketing tool which engages the reader and gives them a reason to return to your blog.

Let me give you some statistics to support this technique:

B To B Marketing magazine in its December 10th 2007 edition ran a story on how using fun and games with social media marketing campaigns in order create customer bonds then sales. The article focuses on utilizing Social Media like Facebook and MySpace, but placing contest like marketing promotions on these sites which will motivate people to click on their ads.

It works.

In the blogosphere, The Big Bald Blog regularly sponsors great contests. Bald Blog rewards RSS email subscribers with prizes that you can truly use like 500 Entrecard entries or an 8GB Ipod Touch.

Discovering a way to raise blog awareness while making your blog interactive is a challenge for me at times, that’s why I haven’t created one. However, something I’ve noticed is that some bloggers form a collaboration to create one contest. It appears to be a great way to enhance traffic between blogs as well as increase subscribers.

If you’ve got an idea for a contest, let me know. It just might help increase our subscribers.
